What To Expect and the Finer Details

When to Schedule your Newborn Session

I highly recommend reaching out to secure your Newborn Session when you are around 6 months along.  Earlier if you would like a Maternity Session too!  I only book a limited number of due dates per month to allow flexibility for when babies are born early (or late), so securing your session early does help ensure I still have spots open when you reach out.

That being said I do try to accommodate one or two last minute bookings per month when possible!

How old should my newborn be for the session?

Somewhere between 8 and 16 days old usually works really well!

That being said, there are exceptions!  I take into account all of the following:  whether baby was born early or late, babies birth weight (and weight at the time of the session), if there were any labor complications, jaundice and other concerns!

Newborn Sessions can be done outside of the 8-16 day old window, however....for studio newborn sessions especially, that does seem to be the 'sweet spot'.

SESSION DETAILS

We offer three different studio session options to choose from!  {Details below}

Sessions last anywhere from approximately 1 hour to 3 hours.  We do allow plenty of breaks for diaper changes, topping off baby if needed,  snuggles, etc!  Sessions are baby led.  Meaning we take our cues from your little one to ensure babies comfort and safety throughout the session.  Not all babies will do all of the different poses.  We work WITH your little one to capture beautiful images.

Even Newborns have a rough day every now and then.  If your little one absolutely isn't having it on the day of their session, please do not stress.  There are options and I will walk you through all of them.

Studio Details

Our studio is a cozy space.  We have a great selection of props, swaddles, little newborn outfits, headbands and other accessories on hand!

At this time we do not offer a full family client closet, but we do provide a clothing guide and what to wear suggestions for family members.

For families that have toddlers or children that they would like to include in the newborn session, please note:

It can be extremely hard for young children to be in a smaller space with lots of props and equipment.  I always start the session with the sibling/family images first.....Dad or a grandparent can then take the older child(ren) to a nearby park or restaurant while we finish the newborn portion.  

I can further explain this during the inquiry process.

If you are unsure how your other children would do during a Studio Newborn Session, we can discuss whether a Lifestyle In-Home Newborn Session would be a better option for your family.

Are there Payment Plan Options?

Yes!  For Sessions that are secured in advance I do offer a payment plan where the balance is split into payments from the time of booking until the actual session.

For last minute bookings, half is due at the time of booking the secure the session and the other half is due at the session.

The Maternity & Newborn Bundle saves you $50 Dollars when you secure both sessions at the same time!  You can choose from any of our Newborn Session options

(we offer 3 different Studio Options or a Lifestyle In-Home option).

The Build Your Own Collection is PERFECT for those that really want a custom mix of sessions.  Choose 3 or more sessions from Pregnancy Announcement, Maternity, any of our Newborn options, and our Babies 1st Year Plan options.
